The
Product Owner – Outside Business Activities and Private Investments
plays a key role in shaping and delivering the functional capabilities that power StarCompliance's SaaS-based regulatory compliance platform. Acting as the voice of the user and domain expert, you will translate complex compliance requirements into clear, actionable features that drive value for our clients.
You'll work hands-on with engineering and design teams—defining user stories, leading backlog refinement, and ensuring high-quality feature delivery through each sprint. As a trusted Subject Matter Expert, you'll provide guidance across teams and help ensure our solutions align with evolving regulatory needs, industry best practices, and StarCompliance's commitment to innovation and client success.
Responsibilities
- Own and manage the SaaS monthly release cycle, leading Agile ceremonies and ensuring high-quality, predictable delivery of new features
- Translate business goals, client needs, and regulatory requirements into clear product roadmaps, user stories, and acceptance criteria
- Maintain a well-groomed backlog and prioritize features based on business value, client impact, and compliance risk
- Act as a subject matter expert in compliance, ethics, or financial regulation, shaping product capabilities that address complex client and market needs
- Collaborate with Engineering, QA, UX, and Compliance to deliver technically sound, user-friendly, and compliant solutions
- Partner with Sales, Customer Success, and Professional Services to support client engagements, demos, and successful implementations
- Define and track key product metrics to measure delivery performance, adoption, and release quality
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, agile excellence, and regulatory integrity across the product lifecycle
Skills And Experience
- 3+ years of Product Owner or Product Management experience in SaaS or enterprise software, or equivalent experience.
- Deep understanding of Agile and Scrum delivery practices, including backlog refinement and sprint management
- Proven ability to write actionable user stories and use cases
- Experience with STAR Compliance products and services a plus
- Experience working with or within regulatory compliance, ethics, or financial services technology
- Demonstrated collaboration with Sales, Professional Services, and Customer Success teams
- Strong analytical mindset with data-driven decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and relationship management across technical and business teams
- Experience balancing regulatory requirements with user experience and business priorities
Education And Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, or related field (Master's a plus)
- Professional certification (e.g., CSPO, PSPO, SAFe PO/PM) preferred
- Familiarity with compliance, ethics, or conduct risk regulations highly desirable
