We are seeking to appoint a qualified, experienced and enthusiastic classroom practitioner who understands that students take individual and multiple pathways in their learning. You will be committed to doing your best by the young people that we work with. Be willing to gain and blend knowledge of the KS2 curriculum and how this supports progression to Key Stage 3, likewise for KS3 and how this supports progress into KS4 ensuring that gaps in prior learning can be closed.

We seek teachers who can lead and adapt the curriculum to deliver a primary approach to Key Stage 3 learners, all of which is supported by a dedicated team and West Berkshire Local Authority.

Northcroft School is a specialist school for learners who have multiple needs such as social, emotional and mental health needs, past trauma, ASD and ADHD. Essential requirements:

  • Good degree in subject and QTS.
  • Able to teach KS3 and KS4 effectively in your subject area with a sound knowledge and understanding of current curriculum developments.
  • Ability to adapt teaching for different learning needs.
  • A range of strategies for creating a positive learning environment.
  • Positive and engaging teaching style, able to lead, motivate, inspire and support students to achieve excellence.
  • Ability and commitment to contribute to our extra-curricular programme and revision classes as needed.

Job purpose:

  • To inspire, motivate and challenge through the planning and delivery of high-quality learning experiences leading to good progress and outcomes for all students.
  • To manage behaviour effectively to ensure a good and safe learning environment and high-quality pastoral support.
  • Promote personal development and the welfare of students.
  • To fulfill the wider professional responsibilities of being a teacher, through supporting the creation and implementation of policies and initiatives, and as detailed within the Teachers' Standards as set out by the DfE.
  • Coordinate and develop your curriculum area contributing to whole schools' improvement priorities.
  • To share and prioritise the schools' values and pedagogy across the whole curriculum.
