What is the role?
We are seeking a Performance Psychologist in our women's 1st team to play a key role in helping players, staff, and the programme, as a whole, in the creation of a person-centred culture to enhance performance and support the mental wellbeing of the team. The role is underpinned by the need to develop cohesion and communication within individuals and the group as a whole in order to successfully navigate the exciting challenges ahead.
What will you be doing?
You will work in collaboration with the Director of Women's Football to carry out regular reviews of the culture within the Women's 1st team and workforce and report on findings and recommendations. Based on review, you will build on and develop the club's cultural environment to ensure consistent behaviours and values are apparent throughout the programme.
Conducting thorough individual and team needs analysis studies will be key in role to understand the staff and player requirements and develop an action plan of support for each individual.
You will create, deliver and improve agreed performance strategies and methodologies to assist and lead in helping players to achieve potential and overcome difficulties on and off the pitch, as well as ensuring a full understanding of referral processes for players requiring specialist support. Alongside the medical team, you will support injured players during their rehabilitation and return to play programmes.
Working in collaboration with key stakeholders (including medicine, clinical psychologist, wellbeing manager, player care and safeguarding) you will protect the mental health and wellbeing of the Women's team players and, with the programme leadership, contribute to the development of resilience and cohesion of the staff group.
Is this you?
You have strong interpersonal and communication skills to be able to work in 1:1 and larger groups, with a diverse range of people and the ability to work in an adaptable way in a fast-paced and changing environment.
You have methodical note-taking and record-keeping skills and an understanding of working within a multi-disciplinary team and ensuring all interventions and conversations are treated with the utmost confidentiality .
You are flexible with your working hours and available to attend training sessions, matches and away fixtures as required.
Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- MSC in Psychology or Sports Psychology
- British Psychological Society Chartered Status or BASES Accredited
- Registered HCPC Membership
- FA Safeguarding Children Qualification
- Work collaboratively with the Safeguarding and Welfare Officer to ensure policies and processes are in place for staff and players
- Experience in the development of strategies, policies and protocols
