We are passionate about keeping people safe, delighting our customers, doing the right thing and putting customers at the heart of our sustainable railway for the East Midlands. With over 2,600 employees, our people are the reason we are so successful, and the Fleet Engineering teams make a crucial contribution to this. Nine times accredited as a Top Employer, we value our people and are dedicated to making sure that everybody feels empowered to bring their authentic self to work.
We have an exciting opportunity to join #TeamEMR as a Fleet Reliability Specialist at our Etches Park Depot in Derby.
About the role
The Fleet Reliability Specialist will report to the Fleet Production Manager and support the local team in the delivery of the production plan, finding the root cause of failures and ensuring that the repairs undertaken are effective. Whilst reporting to the Fleet Production Manager, this role has a strong dotted line to the Fleet Production Engineering Teams for the Regional maintained fleets.
The post holder will work under their own initiative and take responsibility for ensuring in depth fault finding to solve technical issues in particular repeat and complex failures. In parallel to this they will produce reports into repeat defects, set out scope of works, and make recommendations to the Fleet Production Engineers
Main Duties
- Carry out on depot, or on network testing to ensure reliability, working closely with Fleet Production Engineers.
- Ensure inspections are undertaken in line with applicable Quality Procedures.
- Assist the Production Manager and Fleet Production Engineers in the capture and analysis of relevant data, developing fault-finding guides/support material that can be utilised by all EMR colleagues.
- Offer technical support to all EMR colleagues, as and when required.
- Analyse vehicle hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical schematics and interrogatee all train borne data such as OTDR, to offer support evidence for colleagues when carrying out fault finding. In addition, provide regular reports and data that can be used to support delay attribution, and the safe release of units involved in post incident release, including, but not limited to: -
- Reports to be shared with the Production and Management teams summarizing daily and weekly fleet performance
- Reports, with feedback/recommendations on repeat defects and Maintenance Induced Errors
- Scope of work for repeat or complex defects
- Undertake In-Process and Post Work Inspections.
- Liaise with external suppliers and partners as appropriate.
- Carry out train riding activities on known problem vehicle/units as well as undertake proactive health checks on units when required.
- Ensure compliance with local, company and industry safety procedures and regulations.
- Provide expert guidance to colleagues on rectification of faults, ensuring best practice and the required level of fault finding is consistently achieved across both depots.
I'm interested, what are the next steps?
