You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide specialist assessment, diagnosis, and treatment, ensuring a holistic approach to meeting the diverse needs of the community.

Main Responsibilities

Clinical Responsibilities:
  • Conduct developmental paediatric clinics, including assessments for SEND, school medicals, and Looked After Children, ensuring timely and accurate reports.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for assessments, treatment, and follow-ups, including safeguarding activities and case reviews.
  • Liaise with other health professionals to ensure coordinated care and contribute to other Developmental Paediatrics work as required.
Professional and Operational Duties:
  • Participate in the supervision, teaching, and training of staff.
  • Contribute to audits, clinical governance, and service development discussions with internal and external agencies.
  • Adhere to infection control policies, confidentiality standards, and professional obligations.
  • Actively engage in personal development and support the development of colleagues.
Job Plan:
  • Direct Clinical Care (DCC): Clinical work, administration, safeguarding, peer reviews, and supervision.
  • Supporting Professional Activities (SPA): CPD, audits, teaching, governance, and service improvements.
Development and Support:
  • Access facilities and support for CPD, including study leave, to meet professional body requirements.
  • Annual appraisals will cover the full scope of practice.
Managerial Structure and Support:
  • Report to the Director of Developmental Paediatrics, with annual job planning and appraisal.
  • Administrative support is provided, with a named contact for medical staff.
Ideal Candidate

Essential
  • UK recognised medical degree
  • Current full GMC registration
  • Current work permit (if appropriate)
  • Evidence of training in all aspects of child protection assessment (including level 3 training) and health assessments (further training and supervision in assessment of child sexual abuse can be provided in post)
  • Knowledge and understanding of Multi-Disciplinary, inter-professional practice to include primary care and social services

Desirable
  • MRCPCH/MRCP or equivalent
  • Higher specialist training in Developmental Paediatrics
  • Trained in a method of standardised developmental assessment for children
  • Ability to analyse epidemiological data
  • Experience in Developmental Paediatrics including clinical management of looked after children and developmental assessment.
  • Experience in Developmental Paediatrics including clinical management of looked after children and developmental assessment.
  • Experience in the assessment and diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Conditions.
  • Experience of providing child protection reports for the Police and Social Services
  • MSc /diploma in community child health or relevant subject
  • CCT in Community Child Health
