Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support in various areas, primarily focusing on assisting the Cook with kitchen operations and food preparation.

Times / Days Required

You will work onsite at the care home 3 days a week

  • 3 days x 6 hour shift for Kitchen Duties (7.30am - 1.30pm)

Your duties include working some weekends and bank holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and cooking of meals in accordance with established recipes and food safety standards.
  • Help maintain cleanliness and organisation in the kitchen, ensuring all equipment and utensils are properly cleaned and stored.
  • Support the catering team during events by setting up, serving, and clearing away food and drink items.
  • Participate in food safety practices, including proper storage of ingredients and monitoring of food temperatures.
  • Collaborate with chefs and kitchen staff to ensure timely meal preparation and delivery.
  • Assist with inventory management by checking stock levels and reporting any shortages or issues.
  • Any other reasonable duties set out by the main cook to ensure the smooth running of the kitchen.
  • Ensure that you are following best practice cleaning guidelines and using the correct cleaning chemicals at all times.
  • Ensuring that you are filling out relevant paperwork correctly that is required in your role.
  • Engage positively with team members to foster a cooperative work environment.

Skills

  • Previous experience in a kitchen or catering environment is advantageous but not essential.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices for meal preparation.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also being able to take initiative when required.
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in food presentation and cleanliness.
  • Excellent communication skills to liaise with team members effectively.
  • A passion for culinary arts and a willingness to learn new skills within the kitchen setting.

Training

Full Training will be give to you including induction days to help you settle into the role.

DBS: We welcome DBS update service. If you do not have a DBS it will come at a cost of £60.

Job Type: Part-time
