As an apprentice with CGL, you have the opportunity to grow and learn whilst earning. Our apprentices will have a starting salary of £15,037.56 during their first year. After 12 months, your earnings will adjust to match the National Minimum Wage for your age. About the opportunity: We have an exciting opportunity for an Apprentice Probation Worker to join our team in Huddersfield. CGL Kirklees is an adult treatment and recovery service providing pharmacological and psychosocial interventions to the community facing issues with drugs and alcohol use.
At the end of your apprenticeship, you will be awarded a Level 2 Adult Care Qualification.

Responsibilities:
What You'll Learn During Your Apprenticeship:
Throughout your apprenticeship, you'll gain skills and experience in areas such as:
- Supporting service users involved with HM Probation Service and Criminal Justice System from the point of entry into service and through their treatment/recovery
- Providing screening, assessment, psychosocial interventions, recovery planning and onward referral;
- Reducing drug and alcohol related harm to service users and the wider community journey
- Supporting the Criminal Justice team with the assessment and management of risk posed by offenders to protect victims of crime and the general public
- Conducting alcohol and drug tests
- Advising and working with criminal courts, criminal justice agencies and other partner agencies
We're looking for someone with:
- Lived experience of the Criminal Justice system.
- An interest in the social care field, particularly in substance use and recovery.
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills, with a willingness to collaborate with managers, colleagues, and peers to achieve shared goals.
- Effective time management and the ability to work independently when needed.
- Familiarity with IT applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
- A commitment to personal and professional development, with a proactive approach to learning.
- A passion for creating positive outcomes for the people we support and for yourself.
