General Trade Engineer (Light Building & Compliance Works)

Location: Field-based – across London and South

Salary: £30,000 – £36,000 per year (depending on experience)

Pioneer Site Services provides maintenance and compliance services to the social housing sector across the UK. Our work supports safer homes and stronger communities, with a focus on fire safety, electrical compliance, damp and mould remediation, and general building maintenance.

As part of our continued growth, we are looking for a practical, reliable, and hands-on General Trade Engineer to support our site teams with small-scale works across residential buildings.

The Opportunity

This is a great opportunity for a multi-skilled operative or general builder to join a fast-paced, growing company. You will be responsible for completing a variety of light building and compliance-related tasks in occupied and void homes as well as communal areas.

Your work will support key operational teams including electrical, fire safety, and damp and mould engineers — making you a vital part of ensuring our projects are completed to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

• Install fire safety signage and general compliance signage in communal areas
• Fix and secure surface-mounted cable clips, containment, and trunking
• Install or replace GRP meter box housings and meter box doors
• Complete basic patch repairs, sealant application, boxing-in and making good
• Assist with ventilation ducting works and minor hardware fitting (e.g. door furniture, vents)
• Carry out basic painting, finishing or redecoration as required
• Ensure tidy, high-quality finishes in occupied and communal spaces
• Communicate with office-based staff to update job statuses and report issues
• Ensure work is carried out safely and in line with company RAMS

About You

We're looking for someone reliable, well-organised and able to work independently to a high standard. You should take pride in producing neat, safe, and compliant work — even in small or repetitive tasks.

Essential Requirements:

• Experience in general building, property maintenance, or similar roles
• Competent in drilling, fixing, sealing, and making good
• Comfortable using tools and access equipment (training provided if needed)
• Able to follow instructions, RAMS, and report updates via phone or app
• Good attention to detail and professional conduct
• Full UK driving licence

Desirable (but not essential):

• Experience working in social housing or compliance-led environments
• Familiarity with electrical or fire safety installations
• CSCS card or equivalent H&S training
