Your impact

Supporting major multi £million water utility investment programmes, you will own the Technical Leadership of the design, delivery and change management of mechanical modular packages of work, systems, processes, their constructability and integration for water and wastewater projects including systems such as pumping stations, treatment plants, conveyance systems, and associated infrastructure from concept through detail design, development, validation to completion.

Being an integral part of our innovative engineering solutions, in this newly created role your remit with include;

  • Facilitate value engineering and buildability workshops, delivering innovative sustainable design solutions contributing to design management, scheduling, risk management, change control and financial forecasting
  • Participate in value engineering and buildability workshops, embedding constructability and commissioning requirements into the design to deliver innovative and sustainable design solutions.
  • Develop feasibility studies, outline and detailed designs, and provide construction support
  • Produce design layouts, technical specifications, datasheets, and P&IDs for mechanical systems
  • Select and specify mechanical equipment (e.g., pumps, blowers, screens, valves, chemical dosing plant, odour control)
  • Oversee technical delivery, ensuring compliance with industry regulatory and safety standards
  • Mentor and guide colleagues and peers, supporting bother their technical and personal development
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (civil, electrical, process engineers) to deliver integrated solutions

Here's what you'll need

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chartered Member of IMechE
  • Demonstrable progressive experience in mechanical engineering, with expertise in detailed design and design-and-build execution for water, wastewater and bioresources non infrastructure projects
  • A sound knowledge in and experience of mechanical engineering principles, mechanical equipment and systems used in water/wastewater treatment
  • Familiarity with UK water sector regulations and safety protocols
  • Robust understanding of current health, safety and welfare legislation
  • Good stakeholder management skills able to foster a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement
  • Extensive experience with design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, BIM)
