JRP offers supported accommodation for Homeless Adult 18+.

Job Role and Responsibilities

We are looking for talented and motivated people to work within our homeless adults' provision in our project based in Consett County Durham. The focus of the role it to support people to gain independence. Working across our housing projects, working with people who have experienced homelessness and have a range of complex needs. The team will be expected to work within policy and procedural framework, as well as local Pathway procedures. As part of that team, you will be person focussed, flexible and provide a responsive service to the people you work with.

Project workers will carry a caseload of people for whom they will provide comprehensive daily key notes and Keywork sessions, Your role is to work with individuals to promote independence and prepare for a positive move-on into independent accommodation.

Turn round of rooms and ensuring there to a good standard in preparation for admission.

You will be working under the direction of the Service Manager to provide support to the people we accommodate, in addition you will be expected to have a Knowledge Base in one or all of the following areas:

· Mental Health

· Offending

· Substance use

· Homelessness

· Housing

· Employment & Training

The basis of your work is to develop productive, effective and professional relationships with people to create opportunities for successful outcomes. The most important thing you'll bring to this role, is your desire and ability to make a positive difference to people's lives. Our Project workers will offer support to Adults who are on a journey of self-discovery. We recognise that the strength of a Project worker is the ability to be flexible and responsive to the needs of the person, working in a person-centred way to obtain the desired outcomes. You will also be responsible for the housing management function ensuring that all health and safety obligations are met, that the accommodation is suitably decorated and furnished to a good standard, repair and maintenance are scheduled, management of rent and SUC and any other related housing management tasks.

Key Accountabilities

Service Delivery - Days

To provide effective shift cover that supports the aims of the project and encourages the full participation of individuals, as well as to support the work of the project by providing a responsive service.

Ensure that safeguarding and addressing the immediate needs of the individual is paramount to service delivery.

Participation in an On Call Rota to support your team members (on a rota basis)

This post does involve some Loan Working – it will be your responsibility to ensure your safety by utilising the Lone working tools provided and following the Lone Working Policy.

Needs Assessment

In conjunction with your team you will support, interview and comprehensively assess people into the project identify any risk and support.

Work closely with your team to help assess the needs of person, to identify the appropriate accommodation suitable to their needs.

Risk Assessment and Management

In conjunction with allocated people you will be responsible for key working, you are to support Project Workers who will produce comprehensive and high-quality risk assessments and risk management plans.

To work closely with the team to monitor and review risk plans in line with policy guidelines and procedure and to minimise risk to the individual by identifying, reporting, and following up any safeguarding concerns and incidents

Move In

Provide a safe, welcoming, and good standard of accommodation. Once referrals are accepted to ensure people who are coming into the service are made to feel comfortable and are given information concerning the provision and other local services.

Move On

To refer individual to DCC resettlement workers who will identify opportunities for move-on to appropriate shared or self-contained accommodation.

Experience Needed

A demonstrable aptitude for working successfully with vulnerable and at-Risk Adults in a accommodation setting.

An understanding of the most effective ways of working with this client group, who may have a mixture of needs which could include, mental health, substance misuse, physical & emotional health conditions, gang & offending behaviour, ASB etc.

Experience of working well in a high-pressured environment where people may present with difficult and challenging behaviours.

A demonstrable understanding of the principles of risk and support needs.

An understanding of the range of possible approaches appropriate to working with a difficult to engage or chaotic client group.

An understanding of the principles underlying quality of services working with complex adults.

Experience of or a willingness to develop and to lead in at least one of the following specialisms: Education, Training and Employment; Substance Misuse; Criminal Justice or Mental Health.

An understanding of the methods that could be used to develop life skills.

A good understanding of the possible issues involved in working with complex people in an accommodation setting.

An ability and willingness to work a rota that may include early, late and occasional waking night shifts and covers weekdays and weekends.

A good level of numeracy, literacy and comprehension to support clients with welfare benefits, rent and service charge payments, as well as an ability to be self-servicing in the use of computers to create letters, minutes and upload key work records.
