Connect to your opportunity

This is a hands-on engineering role responsible for the ongoing design, operation and evolution of Deloitte's
Google Cloud Platform (GCP) landing zone
— ensuring that it remains secure, compliant, automated, and aligned to best practice. You'll play a key role in administering, maintaining, and enhancing the platform that enables our firm's cloud-managed services and client solutions.

Working as part of a collaborative engineering team, you'll build, operate, and continually improve the firm's GCP ecosystem — focusing on automation, infrastructure as code, and platform engineering excellence. You'll contribute to developing standard operating procedures, runbooks, and automated workflows that keep the environment evergreen and resilient.

You'll report to the
Cloud Engineering Lead (GCP)
and collaborate closely with colleagues across our multi-cloud engineering teams (AWS, Azure), Cyber, and Platform Operations, ensuring that our GCP environment integrates seamlessly with Deloitte's wider IT ecosystems and remains compliant with the firm's governance, risk, and security standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and operate Deloitte's enterprise GCP platform, including project provisioning, lifecycle management, and account decommissioning.
  • Develop, maintain, and execute Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for day-to-day operations and incident response.
  • Design and implement secure, scalable GCP infrastructure and services using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles with Terraform.
  • Collaborate with architecture, security, and compliance teams to maintain GCP security guardrails and best-practice configurations.
  • Contribute to the ongoing design and development of the GCP landing zone to ensure evergreen architecture, automation, and resilience.
  • Use Python to build automation scripts, tooling, and integrations that streamline platform management and improve operational efficiency.
  • Monitor and improve GCP resource utilisation, cost optimisation, and operational performance.
  • Integrate GCP projects and resources into Deloitte's OpenCloud management platform to ensure consistent governance and visibility.
  • Participate in incident response, change management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support knowledge sharing and documentation to build platform capability across the wider engineering community.

Connect to your skills and professional experience

Essentials:

  • Proven experience managing and operating Google Cloud Platform environments at scale.
  • Hands-on experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code practices.
  • Proficiency in Python for automation, scripting, and integrations.
  • Strong understanding of GCP architecture, networking, IAM, and security fundamentals.
  • Experience working with Cloud Operations, Monitoring, and Cost Management tools.
  • Collaborative mindset and experience working within Agile or DevOps teams.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • UK residency and ability to obtain government security clearance if required.

Desirables:

  • Holding or working towards a Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect or Google Cloud Professional DevOps Engineer certification (or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of other cloud providers (AWS, Azure) or hybrid cloud integration patterns.
  • Experience in designing or maintaining secure landing zones for enterprise-scale deployments.
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow, automation runbooks, or cloud management platforms.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
