About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Deputy Manager to support the setup and development of a brand-new residential children's home in Bedford.

This is an exciting opportunity to step into a leadership role and work closely with an experienced Responsible Individual and senior management team. You will play a key part in establishing the home, building a strong and supportive staff team, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, child-centred care.

This role includes a structured training and development pathway, with full support to progress towards becoming a Registered Manager with Ofsted.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the setup and registration of the new home with Ofsted
  • Assist with the recruitment, training, and development of staff
  • Help to create a nurturing, trauma-informed environment where young people can thrive
  • Ensure compliance with the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards
  • Support the day-to-day management of the home, ensuring the highest standards of care
  • Implement effective systems for safeguarding, record-keeping, budgeting, and staff supervision
  • Work collaboratively with senior leaders to develop your leadership and management skills

Requirements

  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent qualification)
  • Working towards, or willing to work towards, a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience working in a residential children's home
  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed practice and the needs of young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and teamwork skills
  • Sound knowledge of safeguarding procedures and Ofsted regulatory requirements
  • A genuine passion for supporting children and young people to reach their full potential
