Job Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Senior Care Assistant to join our team in providing exceptional care to our residents in a care home setting. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities and supervisory experience, ensuring that all care plans are effectively implemented while fostering a supportive environment for both residents and staff. This role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to utilise IT systems for record-keeping and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management.
  • Develop and implement individual care plans in collaboration with healthcare professionals and family members.
  • Supervise junior staff members, providing guidance and support to ensure high standards of care are maintained.
  • Maintain accurate records of residents' progress and any changes in their health status using IT systems.
  • Foster positive relationships with residents, promoting their dignity and independence.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, families, and external healthcare providers to ensure continuity of care.
  • Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in senior care.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a senior care role or similar position within a care home environment is essential.
  • NVQ 3 or working towards it.
  • Supervisory experience is highly desirable, demonstrating leadership capabilities.
  • Strong understanding of care plans and the ability to implement them effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage positively with residents and their families.
  • A valid driving licence is preferred to assist with transportation needs when required.
  • Proficiency in IT systems for documentation and reporting purposes is essential.
