Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Manager to support the daily operations of our award winning day nursery. The ideal candidate will possess strong management and leadership skills, with a passion for early childhood education and childcare. This role offers an opportunity to work within a nurturing environment, contributing to the development and well-being of children while supporting our team of educators.

Duties

  • Assist the Manager in overseeing the daily running of the nursery, ensuring high standards of care and education are maintained
  • Support staff in implementing age-appropriate activities that promote learning and development
  • Supervise staff members, providing guidance and mentorship to foster a motivated and cohesive team
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, safeguarding policies, and statutory requirements
  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding children's progress and centre activities
  • Organise rotas, manage attendance records, and support staff recruitment processes
  • Support children's behavioural management strategies in line with centre policies
  • Contribute to the planning of curriculum activities that meet early childhood education standards

Skills

  • Proven management and leadership experience within a childcare or nursery setting
  • Strong communication skills in English, with the ability to liaise confidently with staff, parents, and external agencies
  • Experience working with children, particularly within early childhood education or nursery environments
  • Knowledge of childcare regulations, safeguarding procedures, and health & safety standards
  • Ability to demonstrate organisational skills and manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Experience with children who have diverse needs is desirable
  • Driving licence is preferred to facilitate centre-related travel or home visits if required

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: £15.00-£17.00 per hour
