Key Responsibilities – Head Cook Jobs in Education Catering
  • Oversee the preparation, cooking, and serving of nutritious, balanced meals for students and staff.
  • Lead and motivate a team of kitchen staff to deliver high-quality food service.
  • Ensure strict compliance with food hygiene, allergen, and health & safety regulations.
  • Manage kitchen rotas, ordering, and inventory control efficiently.
  • Maintain excellent organization, cleanliness, and food safety standards at all times.
  • Adapt quickly to new environments and collaborate positively with school staff and catering management.
What We're Looking For – Temp Head Cook Skills & Requirements
  • Proven experience in a cook, lead cook, or head chef role, preferably in a school or similar contract catering environment.
  • Level 2 Food Hygiene and Allergen Awareness certification (essential).
  • Current DBS certificate (registered on Update Service or issued within last 12 months, essential).
  • Two up-to-date professional references (recent employment required).
  • Demonstrable ability to lead kitchen teams and manage kitchen operations.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and record-keeping skills.
  • Safeguarding certification (preferred but not essential, relevant to schools/education).
  • Adaptable, professional, and reliable approach.
