Academic Education Pathway (AEP) lecturers play a central role in our teaching mission. The Department has recently secured a grant from the Campaign for Mathematical Sciences to launch a new undergraduate degree, Mathematics for Quantitative Problem Solving , which will train innovative problem-solvers able to apply mathematics to a wide range of real-world challenges. The new AEP Lecturer will play a key role in shaping and delivering this programme.

About the role
We invite applications for an Academic Education Pathway (AEP) Lectureship in the Department of Mathematics at King's College London.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to our existing programmes and to play a central role in the creation of a new undergraduate degree, Mathematics for Quantitative Problem Solving , launching in 2027/28. The successful candidate will help design and deliver an integrated 60-credit first-year module in foundational pure mathematics, bringing together core undergraduate content in an innovative and student-focused way.
As an AEP Lecturer, you will deliver excellent and inclusive teaching, support student engagement and wellbeing, and contribute to curriculum development across the department. You will also take part in the wider academic life of the department through administration, scholarly engagement, and outreach, helping to strengthen King's reputation in mathematical education.
This is a full-time position (35 hours per week), offered on a fixed term contract for 36 months.

The position is based at the Strand Campus of King's College London, with an expected start date within three months of the job offer.
About you
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
1. PhD in an area of mathematics.
2. In-depth knowledge in an area of mathematics, evidenced by scholarly activity, publications, or outputs that enhance mathematics education and inform teaching practice.
3. Comprehensive knowledge of first-year undergraduate mathematics content, with the ability to make connections and integrate material across different areas.
4. Evidence of outstanding teaching and curriculum development in mathematics, with the ability to deliver exceptional undergraduate teaching.
5. Evidence of initiative, autonomy and the start-up, can-do mentality required to launch a new degree programme successfully.
6. Ability to foster student engagement and wellbeing, and to provide strong academic support.
7. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to engage and motivate students and colleagues.
8. Readiness and ability to contribute to academic administration and the shared responsibilities of the department.
Desirable criteria
1. Familiarity with computational mathematics or mathematical programming (e.g. Python, Mathematica) and the integration of these tools into teaching.
2. Familiarity with the UK mathematics curriculum at the pre-university level, including A Level Mathematics and Further Mathematics.
3. Impactful engagement in outreach or widening participation initiatives.
4. Experience in designing assessments for group and project work.
