Contract Type: Full-time (40 hours per week)

Salary: £30,500 per annum + £100 weekly On-Call Allowance (minimum 2 weeks per month)

Start Date: As soon as possible

Hours: 40 hours per week, mainly Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, including occasional weekends.

Deputy Manager should be willing to provide hands on care between 07:00 and 22:00 when needed to maintain service continuity.

Some hybrid working from home may be possible following successful completion of probation.

Purpose of the Role

We are looking for a passionate and experienced Deputy Manager to help lead our high quality, person centred home care service in Bolton. Working closely with the Registered Manager, you will oversee staff performance, service quality, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency to ensure safe and consistent care delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Leadership & Staff Supervision

  2. Supervise, mentor and support care staff, ensuring compliance with company policies and CQC Fundamental Standards.

  3. Conduct spot checks, competency assessments, supervision sessions, and appraisals.
  4. Foster a positive, inclusive and supportive team culture in line with Rosie Nightingale Homecare's values.
  5. Deputise for the Registered Manager when required, providing leadership and operational oversight.

Closely monitor and audit medication administration in the service.

  1. Quality Monitoring & Compliance

  2. Carry out regular audits of medication administration, care plans, risk assessments and care delivery documentation.

  3. Support governance, safeguarding investigations, incident management and quality improvement actions.
  4. Ensure all records meet CQC, GDPR and internal policy standards.
  5. Assist the Registered Manager with preparation for CQC inspections and compliance reviews.

  6. Client Assessments & Care Planning

  7. Undertake and oversee initial client assessments, risk assessments and reviews.

  8. Ensure all care plans are person-centred, up-to-date and reflective of individual needs.
  9. Liaise effectively with clients, families and external professionals to support safe, consistent care delivery.

  10. Service Delivery & Operational Support

  11. Support the daily running of the service, ensuring effective coordination and delivery of care.

  12. Assist the Care Coordinator with shift planning, handling last-minute changes, and sourcing cover for absences or emergencies.
  13. Provide hands-on care where necessary (between 07:00 and 22:00) to maintain continuity of service.
  14. Participate in the on-call rota (minimum two weeks per month), offering operational and telephone support.
  15. Collaborate with office and field teams to ensure efficient rota management, scheduling, and client satisfaction.

  16. Business & Service Development

  17. Support the Registered Manager in maintaining and enhancing Rosie Nightingale Homecare's reputation for quality and reliability.

  18. Build strong relationships with clients, families and external partners to encourage referrals and growth.
  19. Identify service improvement opportunities aligned with CQC's Key Lines of Enquiry (KLOEs) and best practice.

  20. Compliance & Reporting

  21. Maintain current knowledge of CQC regulations, safeguarding legislation and local authority processes.

  22. Report incidents, complaints and safeguarding concerns promptly and accurately.
  23. Ensure confidentiality, data protection, and health & safety standards are consistently upheld.

Requirements

Essential:

  • Experience in domiciliary or health & social care (supervisory or team-lead level or above).
  • NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or working towards Level 5 Leadership qualification).
  • Strong understanding of CQC Fundamental Standards and relevant legislation.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills.
  • Valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle with business insurance.
  • Willingness to work mainly 9 AM – 5 PM and provide hands-on care if required between (7 AM – 10 PM).

Desirable:

  • Previous experience as a Deputy Manager or similar leadership role in domiciliary care.
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health & Social Care.
