Mechanical Design Engineer

We are recruiting a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our client, a rapidly growing engineering company who design and manufacture equipment for the defence and security sector.

The role


• Create and update 3D CAD models, assemblies, and drawings (SolidWorks) in line with BS8888


• Deliver allocated projects, ensuring schedules and budgets are met


• Produce and approve design documentation including specifications, manuals, and test procedures


• Collaborate with engineers across disciplines to develop new and existing products


• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and prototype assembly/testing


• Occasionally visit customers and suppliers (full driving licence required)

Requirements:


• Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience)


• Min 3 years experience in detailed product design for manufacturing - precision engineering preferred


• Experience with simulation methods (FEA, thermal, vibration analysis)


• Knowledge of manufacturing methods (machining, castings, mouldings)


• Strong skills in DFM/DFA and 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred)


• Ability to think conceptually and translate requirements into technical solutions

Due to the nature of our work, candidates must be eligible to obtain Security Clearance (SC level).
