Operations Manager

Location: ASH Group Ltd – Wrexham

Job Type: Full-Time (40 hours per week, Monday–Friday; occasional Saturday/Bank Holiday cover as required)

As part of our continued growth, we are seeking a motivated and experienced Operations Manager to join our team. In this pivotal role, you'll contribute to our mission of providing effective and ethical waste management services while driving operational excellence across the business.

The Role

As an Operations Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day depot operations, ensuring that all services are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. You will play a key role in staff leadership, route planning, and service delivery, supporting the company's ongoing expansion and sustainability goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, motivate, and manage operational staff to achieve service and performance objectives.
  • Plan, organise, and prioritise collection routes and service schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with waste management legislation and company procedures.
  • Monitor performance and implement process improvements.
  • Support and promote the company's carbon-neutral and sustainability initiatives.
  • Maintain strong communication with customers, suppliers, and internal departments.
  • Attend meetings, training sessions, and site visits as required.

About You

  • Proven experience in staff and operations management, ideally within waste management or a similar environment.
  • Confident using excel and open to learning bespoke route planning and customer service systems.
  • Experience in trade or commercial waste collection operations (preferred).
  • Knowledge of waste management legislation (advantageous).
  • Excellent organisational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Flexible, proactive, and able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel as required.

Education & Experience

  • Education: GCSE or equivalent (preferred)
  • Experience:
  • Commercial waste operations: 1 year (preferred)
  • LGV / HGV operational experience: 1 year (preferred)

Licence / Certification

  • Driving Licence: Required
  • Work Authorisation: United Kingdom (required)

Salary & Schedule

  • Salary: £37,500 – £40,000 per year (depending on experience)
  • Schedule:
  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekend availability (on rota / as required)
