The opportunity
The Photography Programme is looking to appoint tutors to a number of its courses, including BA (Hons) Photography; BA (Hons) Photography and Creative Industries; BA (Hons) Photojournalism and Documentary Photography; and MA Photojournalism and Documentary Photography. Your main responsibility will be the preparation, teaching, administration, and assessment of a unit or part of a unit. You will make a significant contribution to the quality of learning and support our students receive, enabling them to complete their studies successfully. We are looking to appoint people with expertise in the following areas. Please indicate at the top of your application which course/s you are applying to.
BA (Hons) Photography
We are looking for photographers with experience of publishing, exhibiting and experimental practice for the first-year units, including Introduction to Photography and Remix Remake. You will be teaching practical skills in shooting (working with a variety of digital and analogue cameras), workflow and post-production, printing and design. Skills in Photoshop, InDesign and Capture One are particularly welcome, together with skills in studio and location lighting. Applicants who can demonstrate a strong combination of technical knowledge with experimental and creative practice are particularly welcome.

BA (Hons) Photography and Creative Industries
We are looking for photographers/filmmakers/image makers with a strong level of experience in delivering campaigns, editorials or content for brands and magazines. This is for the Creator Identities, Live Brief, and Creative Futures units. The role requires teaching practical skills in graphic, motion, and typographic design using applications such as Adobe Creative Suite (After Effects, Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Lightroom). A strong working knowledge of how to design creative strategy, build client partnerships and create pitch decks is favoured for this role.

BA (Hons) Photojournalism and Documentary Photography
We are looking for photographers with a high level of experience in news and press photography and documentary photography. This is for the Practical Photojournalism and Newsgathering and Press Photography units. The role requires teaching students how to cover a wide range of news events, from protests and political and financial stories to longer form features. You will be required to teach practical skills in shooting, editing and filing from the field, using the latest technology and software.

MA Photojournalism and Documentary Photography
We are looking for a practitioner with specific skills in multimedia, video and audio-recording, ideally with experience of working for/with photo agency or client organisations (e.g., NGOs, aid agencies, government agencies, editorial platforms) and photographers and documentarists in creating and presenting multimedia and moving image work. The role requires a range of teaching contexts including introducing students to multimedia, moving image, and audio recording techniques, to helping them utilise these skills as a way of expanding their practice, to working with them to realise final major projects. You will be working primarily on the Photojournalism & Documentary Practice, Rethink and Major Project Units.

The Photography programme at London College of Communication is a multi-genre photography programme, combining practice, theory and professionalism. Through this approach, we produce creative photographers who are specialists within their field of interest. We have a student-centred approach to our teaching, and we teach through ideas and doing. As a practitioner and educator, you will have a strong understanding of contemporary photographic culture, its technologies and practices, and the skills necessary to teach photography students in a higher education environment.
