ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Supported Living Support Worker at Sterling Nova Care Ltd, you will support adults with learning disabilities, autism, mental health needs, or vulnerable individuals to live independently within their own homes.

This role does NOT involve personal care.

The focus is on promoting independence, life skills, confidence, community participation, and tenancy stability.

You will empower people to lead safer, happier and more fulfilling lives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Promote Independence & Daily Living Skills

  • Support clients with routines such as cleaning, cooking and organising their home
  • Encourage development of budgeting, shopping and money management skills
  • Promote independence in tasks appropriate to the individual
  • Provide gentle prompting rather than doing tasks for the person

2. Community Engagement & Social Inclusion

  • Encourage clients to access the community safely
  • Support with attending appointments, activities, college or work programmes
  • Promote confidence when using public transport
  • Facilitate social opportunities that reduce isolation

3. Housing-Related Support

  • Help clients understand and maintain their tenancy
  • Support with reporting repairs and liaising with housing providers
  • Promote safety and wellbeing within the property
  • Help clients understand their rights and responsibilities

4. Emotional & Wellbeing Support

  • Offer companionship and emotional reassurance
  • Support clients to manage anxiety or behavioural triggers
  • Use Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) strategies
  • Support independence in decision-making and personal goals

5. Support Planning, Recording & Reporting

  • Complete daily notes and progress logs
  • Update support plans in collaboration with senior staff
  • Escalate concerns around mental health, wellbeing or safeguarding
  • Maintain accurate records in line with organisational policies

6. Safeguarding & Risk Management

  • Identify and report safeguarding concerns immediately
  • Support clients to understand boundaries and personal safety
  • Follow risk assessments and support plans at all times
  • Contribute to reviews of risk management procedures

7. Professional Practice

  • Work in partnership with families, social workers and external agencies
  • Maintain confidentiality and GDPR compliance
  • Attend training and team meetings as required

REQUIREMENTS (ESSENTIAL)

  • Passion for supporting vulnerable adults
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience, resilience and reliability
  • Ability to work independently and problem-solve
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain)
  • Right to work in the UK

DESIRABLE

  • Experience in supported living, mental health or learning disabilities
  • Knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)
  • Understanding of autism, ADHD, trauma-informed support
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care (desirable but not required)
  • Car driver with access to a vehicle
