About the Role
As Outreach Lead Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering high-quality outreach education and SEMH support. You will lead, guide and develop the outreach team, ensuring personalised learning programmes that promote successful reintegration and re-engagement with education. You will work collaboratively with mainstream schools, families and partner agencies to reduce exclusions, specialist placements and EHCP requests, contributing to sustainable, positive outcomes for pupils.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and manage day-to-day outreach operations, ensuring smooth delivery of personalised teaching and SEMH support.
• Monitor, evaluate and report on outreach interventions to drive continuous improvement.
• Provide professional guidance, model best practice and support the development of outreach colleagues.
• Collaborate with partner agencies and schools to build capacity and inclusive support systems.
• Offer advice and training to mainstream schools on meeting SEMH and additional learning needs.
• Support pupils, families and schools through coordinated, evidence-based interventions.
• Contribute to the development of policies and strategies that promote social inclusion and reduce exclusions.
• Prepare detailed reports and assessments relating to pupils with special educational needs.
• Participate actively in professional development and outreach network meetings.
• Ensure compliance with safeguarding, data protection and school policies.
Required Qualifications and Experience
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with substantial teaching experience.
• Proven leadership experience in SEMH or special educational needs provision.
• Strong knowledge of strategies and approaches for supporting pupils with SEMH and additional learning needs.
• Experience of working collaboratively with schools, families and external agencies.
• Ability to manage a team and deliver impactful professional development.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing.

Keeping Children Safe in Education
The Forum Centre will conduct online searches of shortlisted candidates. This check will be part of a safeguarding check, and the search will purely be based on whether an individual is suitable to work with children. All aspects of social media and internet searches will be conducted. As care must be taken to avoid unconscious bias and any risk of discrimination, a person who will not on the appointment panel will conduct the searches and will only share information if and when findings are relevant and of concern.

The Forum Centre (TFC) is a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) dedicated to providing high-quality education and tailored support for pupils who have been permanently excluded from mainstream schools, those with medical needs preventing attendance and pupils at risk of permanent exclusion. We also serve pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), including those awaiting specialist placements. As one of four PRUs in Dorset, The Forum Centre supports up to 100 pupils across Key Stages 2 to 4, fostering an inclusive environment where every pupil's potential can be realised through personalised learning and a strong focus on social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.
