Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and support to individuals in need, ensuring their well-being and enhancing their quality of life. This position requires a proactive approach, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with other care professionals.

Duties

  • Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and medication administration.
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to clients, fostering a positive environment.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies to support individuals with challenging behaviours.
  • Maintain accurate records of patient care and report any changes in health or behaviour to the appropriate professionals.
  • Assist with mobility and heavy lifting when necessary, ensuring the safety of both the client and yourself.
  • Engage clients in social activities and encourage participation in community events.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including first aid protocols, to ensure a safe environment for both clients and staff.

Skills

  • Proficiency in medical terminology is advantageous for effective communication within the healthcare setting.
  • Experience in patient care, particularly within a care home or senior care environment, is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of medication administration procedures is essential for supporting clients' health needs.
  • Strong behaviour management skills to effectively handle various situations that may arise during care provision.
  • Ability to drive is beneficial for transporting clients as needed.
  • Competence in heavy lifting techniques to assist clients with mobility challenges.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build rapport with clients and their families while working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
