Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our finance team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing financial records, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing insightful financial analysis to support decision-making. This position requires proficiency in accounting software and a strong understanding of financial management principles.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyze financial ledgers statements and reports
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable
  • Ensure compliance with UK accounting standards and regulations including annual statutory audit
  • Prepare and submit VAT and tax returns
  • Tax planning including for R&D related tax allowances and rebates
  • Coordinate with UK customs for settlement and clearance of imported goods
  • Design and implement financial controls
  • Assist in the preparation and monitoring of financial forecasts and budgets
  • Review and reconcile accounts for monthly and annual closing
  • Ensure compliance with company statutory reporting requirements and filings
  • Ensure payroll compliance with national insurance and personal income tax deductions
  • Maintain business records and documents

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field or professional accounting certification (such as ACCA)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance, must be competent in all aspects of accounts and taxation work.
  • Big 4 experience or in-house work experience in an import/export trading company is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with UK GAAP
  • Proven ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

Skills

  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, Sage, QuickBooks)
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Preparation and maintenance of financial ledgers
  • Experience with financial reporting and tax compliance
  • Budgeting and financial analysis
