Contract Opportunity: Data & AI Engineer (7 Months, Remote – EU Timezone)

We are seeking an experienced Data & AI Engineer for a 7-month B2B contract. This is a fully remote position, open to candidates located within the EU timezone for optimal collaboration with our distributed team.

About the Role:

You will play a pivotal role in our AI-focused project, developing an agentic chatbot powered by Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).

This is not a traditional ETL-only position — we are looking for an engineer with a broad, end-to-end skillset who can bridge data engineering and AI application development. You'll be responsible for integrating robust data processing capabilities into the AI pipeline, including development, deployment, testing, and debugging.

Your expertise will ensure data flows seamlessly through the AI system, enabling high-quality and contextually accurate chatbot responses.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement robust data processing and integration for AI-driven systems.
  • Develop and maintain APIs and services (primarily using FastAPI).
  • Ensure data quality, consistency, and compliance with governance standards (including GDPR and PII handling).
  • Support CI/CD processes and ensure scalable, reliable deployments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize data flow into the chatbot's RAG architecture.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Python: Strong, hands-on experience beyond simple data manipulation.
  • Complex JSON: Deep understanding of structure, parsing, and transformation.
  • FastAPI: Practical experience in API development.
  • ETL: Skilled in building ingestion, cleaning, and transformation workflows.
  • CI/CD: Familiarity with continuous integration and deployment practices.
  • Application Engineering: Strong grasp of software development principles.
  • Data Quality: Deduplication, validation, and consistency checks.
  • Data Governance & Security: Knowledge of GDPR, access control, and secure handling of sensitive data.
  • Azure: Basic familiarity with Azure services.
  • Semi-Structured & Relational Data: Comfortable working across both.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Experience with LangChain or LangGraph
  • Familiarity with vector databases
  • Exposure to Databricks or distributed systems (Spark, Dask, Ray)
  • Understanding of MLOps practices
