The shift pattern for this post is Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm. Please note that the salary is Pro Rata for part-time posts.

Renfrewshire Learning Disability Service (RLDS) is inviting applications to join our well-established, integrated health and social work team as a Consultant Clinical Psychologist 0.5wte (Band 8C AFC).

RLDS works with adults with learning disabilities and is known for its psychologically informed, person-centred approach. Our multidisciplinary team is highly skilled, with training in a range of low-intensity interventions including Step-Up, Beat-It, Positive Behaviour Support at various levels and trauma-informed practice. We have strong, collaborative relationships with local support providers ensuring the delivery of high-quality care. This post is line- managed by the RLDS Health Operational Manager and professionally managed by the Professional Lead for LD Psychology.

We are looking for an experienced clinical psychologist with skills in all of the following; teaching, supervision, complex interventions and service development. Excellent interpersonal skills are also required. You will provide highly specialised psychological assessment and therapy as well as offering consultation to the wider MDT and others.

In your role you will be responsible for the governance of psychological therapies in RLDS. You will also be expected to provide clinical supervision to assistant psychologists, trainee psychologists, qualified 8A psychologists and other multi-professional staff in the learning disabilities service. You will be working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the board, and service's policies and procedures. Engagement in research, QI, audit and service development is actively encouraged, with time allocated in the job plan to support this, both locally and Board wide. The post-holder will be expected to have experience of working autonomously with a wide variety of client groups, preferably those with a learning disability, and exercising full clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care and treatment.

The post-holder will have regular access to clinical, professional and peer supervision from other Psychologists in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. There are excellent links with the University of Glasgow's doctoral training programme. The post-holder will have opportunities to supervise DClinPsy trainees and contribute to academic teaching. The post requires significant clinical psychology practice experience in NHS or equivalent (ideally with significant experience within specialist learning disability services), supervised by a suitably qualified Clinical Psychologist. Applicants should be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and will be required to maintain their registration through regular supervision and CPD, as a condition of continued employment. Professional development is strongly supported and the post holder will be encouraged to take advantage of CPD opportunities available through NHS Education for Scotland and the wider Specialist Learning Disability Service. LD Psychology staff meet monthly and participate in a quarterly Journal Club.
