Job Title: WIN09929 B&Q Doncaster Facilities Operative Grade: W1

Reports to: Facilities Manager Business area: General Merchandise

Location : B&Q Redhouse, Doncaster

Summary and purpose of position:

Responsible for contributing to a lean mindset of a continuous improvement culture within the facilities team whilst working to required SLA's and helping to maintain the site to Wincanton and B&Q standards.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Assist in safety and health campaigns and be part of a pro-active safety culture.
  • Build a strong and collaborative working relationship with internal and external customers, including sub-contractors, to ensure that all services are delivered in a professional, timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Ensure Contractor and Visitor safety at all times when on site.
  • Investigate issues within role scope to establish root cause and instigate corrective action - technical fault-finding.
  • Ensure site facilities are working in accordance with Health and Safety policy and procedures. This will include but is not limited to ensuring all records of installation, licensing and maintenance are up to date, that practices adhere to any required health and safety or legislative requirements, and that records are available for inspection by colleagues and managers on site.
  • Check functionality of safety systems (e.g. fire alarm)
    Use equipment, including power tools, hand tools

Experience, Skills, and Attributes:

  • Ideally experience of working in distribution
  • Experience of working in LEAN/Continuous Improvement initiatives
  • Experience of working to and achieving specific targets and deadlines
  • Participating in change projects and engaging with employees
  • IT and systems literate
    Maintaining positive internal/external relationships

Hours of work

40 hours per week, 5 days per week, Monday to Friday, usual hours 8-4 however flexibility around business needs is required.
