Operational Framework:
Ensure that at all times the clinical services are delivered within and guided by the services Operational Framework and Clinical Model.
Ensure admissions, discharges and transfer of patients comply with the principles of the Operating Framework.
We are seeking an experienced Mental Health Nurse to provide clinical leadership and management to our care team; Registered Nurses and support workers.
Job Purpose:
As a Lead Nurse, you will work closely with the Hospital Director in terms of leading the hospital team, to ensure delivery of outstanding levels of care to all Service Users.
The successful candidate will work with the Multi-Disciplinary Team to maintain a robust, high quality clinical service for Service Users whilst ensuring that their own clinical practice is consistent with autonomous practice within the role.
Your working pattern will include shift and non shift work.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Lead Nurse, you will:
- Deputise in the absence of the Hospital Director
- Work flexibly to support the needs of the service
- Support and guide others in line with the NMC Code, always following its guidance
- Model a culture of openness, consistency, care and compassion
- Lead and inspire the team to deliver effective experiences to Service Users, which will their promote choice, independence and recovery to make a positive difference to their lives
- Be motivated to achieve the highest possible standards of care, ensuring that all company policies, regulations, Codes of Conduct, and individual care plans are adhered to
- Work with the Hospital Director to implement hospital policies and procedures around standards of care, staff welfare and training and development
- Develop personal contact with Service Users, their relatives, and visitors to enhance the Service Users quality of life
- Deputise in the overall management of the hospital including production of reports and audits
- Take responsibility for the health, safety and welfare of yourself and others, including colleagues, residents and visitors to the hospital, and alerting the officers responsible to any hazards or potential risks to health and safety
- Ensure you and others in the team attend training days and courses
Salary
- Salary from £42.5K to £48,000 (DOE)
- Contract; 36.75, 40/42
Qualifications and Education requirements:
Nursing qualification and current NMC registration as RMN or RNLD

Essential Knowledge/ Skills/ Experience:
- Strong clinical experience and demonstrable clinical skills
- At least 1 year experience of managing a team or team leadership
- Experience of managing supervision and appraisal systems
- Knowledge and experience in quality assurance and clinical governance
- Must have a sound knowledge and understanding of Safeguarding
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent knowledge of all relevant legislation
Desirable Skills:
- Experience of completing rotas to enable the smooth, efficient running of the hospital
- Managing a budget
- Experience of Human Resources processes / procedures
