Morris & Spottiswood Ltd is a leading provider of fitout, housing, and maintenance services to the retail, banking, commercial, education, housing and healthcare sectors across Scotland and North West England. Our offices are based in Glasgow, Warrington, Edinburgh and Leeds.
We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to join our team.
The role will be predominantly based on site during live projects and assumes overall responsibility for the management, planning, programming & phasing of all projects under the Project Manager's delegated authority. Therefore, it is critical that the successful candidates can demonstrate significant experience in running a project from start to finish with core time management, technical, planning and communication skills required, whilst ensuring all needs of the project are delivered.
Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate solid experience of managing the successful delivery of high value commercial office refurbishments, with experience of managing the delivery team and sub contractors.
The Project Manager will be supported on site by a Site Manager. However, it will be the PM's role to act as a solid point of contact for the operations team to offer support and advice. The ideal person will be a confident and professional individual who can converse fluently with the Client, our own labour and subcontractors to achieve quality service delivery to budget and timescale. The successful candidate will be required to produce short term look-a-head programmes on Asta Power Project, involving the coordination of all trades on site.
Successful candidates will be expected to consistently behave and interact in line with the values of the business, while leading their team, setting objectives and developing people in order to provide a service of quality to customers and clients, both internal and external.
Ensuring compliance with all aspects of both Health & Safety Legislation and internal H&S Management System will be crucial. Successful candidates will also be skilled in delivering project programme and phasing presentations to clients, managing client, sub-contractor and team meetings effectively and managing their time and delegating effectively.
The successful candidates will have a thorough working knowledge of Refurbishment contracts through significant job experience & training, experience of supporting a contract in its entirety.
Working with the Commercial team, the Project Manager will be responsible for managing Contracts' finances and budgets as well as the procurement of sub-contractors and materials (in conjunction with procurement department) in order to produce relevant procurement schedules.
Experience / Background
Candidates considered for this role will already be in an operational management position with a proven background in commercial or refurbishment. It is also desirable if candidates have experience in running medium-large contracts with values in excess of £1m.
Personal Attributes
The successful individual will be a dedicated and results-driven construction manager with a successful background in the achievement of profitable and quality-led contracts. Strong leadership and team management skills, coupled with a decisive problem solving ability and excellent time management skills are imperative to the role.
You should have excellent communications skills as you will be required to express your opinions both in writing and verbally at internal and external meetings. In addition, you should be able to demonstrate a good track record of working with clients to meet their expectations as well as to deliver for the business.
Other information
Successful candidates must be willing to work out of the alternative office base, remotley and be based on site as and when the job requires.
Successful candidates will also:-
- hold a valid driving licence
- be fully IT literate in word and excel (at advanced level)
- hold previous line management experience (desirable)
- Ideally candidates will come from a trades background
- Must have relevant site and safety certificates and be CSCS card approved
