We are currently seeking an experienced Plumber to join our Mechanical Division. You will be responsible for providing a comprehensive maintenance, repair and installation service to buildings and equipment at a range of properties and facilities throughout the County Antrim area. This will include diagnosing and repairing faults as required, compliance with safety regulations, conducting routine inspections, and providing high-quality service in line with operational requirements.

Hours: 39 hours per week

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Plumbing Maintenance and Repair:

  • Carry out routine and emergency plumbing repairs and installations.
  • Repair and replace faulty components such as taps, valves, water heaters, and other fixtures.
  • Detect, diagnose, and fix leaks, blockages, and drainage issues.

Installation and Upgrade of Plumbing Systems:

  • Install, maintain, and repair hot and cold water systems, heating systems, and sanitary installations in accordance with statutory regulations and manufacturers' instructions.
  • Assist in installing new plumbing systems for council construction or refurbishment projects.

Routine Inspections and Preventative Maintenance:

  • Perform routine inspections of plumbing systems and infrastructure to identify any potential issues.
  • Develop and execute preventative maintenance schedules to reduce breakdowns and extend the lifespan of plumbing fixtures and systems.

Customer Service and Communication:

  • Provide excellent customer service to both staff and members of the public, responding to complaints or queries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Liaise with other tradespeople, contractors, and service providers as needed to ensure efficient coordination of work.

Record Keeping and Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate records of work completed, materials used, and any other relevant documentation required for company reporting.
  • Ensure all installations and repairs comply with local building regulations and codes.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plumbing and Heating or equivalent.
  • Proven experience as a Plumber either in public sector or plumbing and maintenance contracts.
  • Experience working on both commercial and domestic plumbing systems.
  • Strong knowledge of plumbing systems, water heating systems, and drainage systems.
  • Ability to diagnose and solve plumbing-related issues quickly and efficiently.
  • Good understanding of relevant health and safety legislation.
  • Full, clean UK driving licence.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work outside of normal hours when necessary (e.g., for emergencies).
