National Friendly is a small mutual life insurer with a forward looking attitude and a broad and diverse portfolio of products through which it is seeking to support new business growth over the forthcoming years and we are looking for a new Pricing Actuarial Analyst to join our team,

The key duties of the role include:

  • Take a lead role in the development, implementation and ongoing production of data analytics and statistical modelling processes to provide both internal and external insights.
  • Take a lead role in monitoring our competitive positioning in the market across price and product.
  • Support the Commercial Actuary to develop and implement robust pricing processes across all open products.
  • Support product development activity as required with a focus on cashflow modelling, including collaborating with other teams as needed.
  • Support the automation of premium reviews.
  • Support enhancement and production our Value of New Business reporting.
  • Support Distribution Quality Management (DQM) activity.
  • Responses to customer services and compliance to resolve customer queries, in relation to pricing queries (internal and external).
  • Production of Actuarial tools to support self-serve queries and provide readymade insights.
  • Other activities of the actuarial team, where needed.

We are looking for someone with the following educational/experience:

  • Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (or equivalent) – actively studying, or ambition to study in line with National Friendly study scheme.
  • Experience of actuarial / data science / statistical modelling work and other relevant aspects of the financial management of a UK insurer or consultancy.
  • Degree or equivalent from for a mathematical subject area such as STEM, Finance, Economics, or Statistics (preferred).
  • Proficient using Excel and VBA.
  • Experience of either R, Python or similar data analytics software.
  • Experience of using a recognised actuarial projection software platform preferred) is a bonus.

In additional to a competitive salary of between £30k-£45k depending on experience, we provide an excellent benefits package including a generous bonus scheme, pension contributions up to 12%, private medical cover, life assurance (x4 salary) and much more. We also offer discretionary hybrid working, with 3 days per week spent in the office and the option to work from home for the remaining time.
