About the Role

The Legal team at Trainline plays a key role in enabling the business to grow responsibly and efficiently. Our mandate is to both "Power" and "Protect" Trainline.

Reporting to Senior Legal Counsel, the Contracts & Legal Operations Specialist will take ownership of the end to end contract lifecycle and help drive operational excellence across the Legal function.

This hybrid role blends hands-on contract management and negotiation with responsibility for our legal tools, processes, and key vendor relationships. You'll be instrumental in optimising how the team works and ensuring our legal operations support Trainline's commercial ambitions.

What You'll Be Doing

Contract Management

  • Own the full lifecycle of commercial contracts, from creation and negotiation to execution, renewal, and archiving.

  • Review and negotiate standard vendor agreements (NDAs, MSAs, SOWs, and service contracts) with support from the legal team.

  • Maintain a central contract repository and ensure obligations, renewals, and key data are visible to the business.

  • Manage templates, playbooks, and guidance, using AI-powered tools to drive efficiency and consistency.

  • Act as the go-to contact for contract-related queries across Trainline.

Legal Operations & Technology

  • Lead the implementation, adoption, and optimisation of our legal technology stack (e.g. CLM systems, DocuSign, AI automation).

  • Identify and deliver process improvements across workflows, reporting, and document management.

  • Oversee vendor relationships, budgets, and invoicing related to legal tools and suppliers.

  • Develop dashboards and metrics to track contract performance and operational efficiency.

  • Keep legal templates, policies, and documentation accurate and compliant.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • Experience in contract management or legal operations within an in-house team.

  • Skilled in reviewing and managing high-volume, low-complexity contracts.

  • Familiarity with legal technology platforms (e.g. Ironclad, DocuSign, Wordsmith).

  • Strong understanding of commercial contracting principles and risk management.

  • Confident working with data and dashboards in Excel or similar tools.

  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred:

  • Law degree (helpful but not essential).
