For a fine casual dining spot in Belsize Park we are looking for a sous chef who wants to help leading a small culinary team in a growing business. We are looking for an individual with experience in all day dinning, casual, but refined with an eye for details. You will be taking part in developing future seasonal menus, made from scratch. Help guide junior staff along with the Head Chef, be compliant with health and safety and food safety procedures, placing orders and keep stock levels.

Duties

  • Assist the Head Chef in planning and directing food preparation and cooking activities.
  • Supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Ensure all food safety regulations are adhered to, maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment.
  • Help with menu creation, including the development of new recipes and presentation styles.
  • Oversee food production processes, ensuring quality and consistency in every dish served.
  • Train new kitchen staff on cooking techniques, safety practices, and restaurant policies.
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure timely service during busy periods.
  • Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, assisting with ordering as needed.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or similar role in a restaurant setting.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety standards and best practices.
  • A background in hospitality or culinary education is an advantage but not essential.
