A vacancy has arisen for a Greenkeeper at Selby Golf Club.

The role is permanent and full-time, including weekend work. As a key member of the team, you will help to prepare, present and maintain our 18 hole championship course and practice facilities to the highest standards at all times.

Selby Golf Club was founded in 1907, and is a beautiful par 71 course, built on sand-based, well drained land, making the course playable all year round. Winter golf is particularly popular. A 3-phase course development programme has just concluded. The Club has a full Membership of over 700 and an approximate 2-3 year waiting list for 7-day Membership.

About the Role:

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Assistant Greenkeeper to join our dedicated team in maintaining and enhancing the quality of our golf course. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about turf care and outdoor work, looking to develop their skills in a supportive and professional environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the day-to-day maintenance of the golf course, including mowing, bunker raking, and general turf care.
  • Operate and maintain machinery and equipment safely and effectively.
  • Support the implementation of agronomic practices such as aeration, topdressing, and irrigation.
  • Help ensure the course is presented to the highest standards for members and guests.
  • Work collaboratively with the greenkeeping team to meet seasonal and tournament preparation goals.

  • Good time management and organisational skills.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude for equipment maintenance.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new techniques and technologies.

Qualifications:

  • NVQ Level 2 or NVQ Level 3 equivalent in Sports Turf Maintenance (desirable).
  • PA1 and PA6 spraying certificates (desirable).
  • Chainsaw operation certificate (desirable).
  • Full UK driving license (preferred).
  • First Aid certification (advantageous).

Essential Requirements:

  • A genuine interest in golf course maintenance and turf management.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Good communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.
  • Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, and public holidays as required.
