Job Requirements

We are looking for a full-time Administrator for our Southlands Nursing Home in Havant, Hampshire.

The hours are Monday to Friday 8.00 am to 4.00 pm. You will be required to provide a comprehensive secretarial, administration and customer service role, supporting the Manager to maintain the statutory requirements of personnel and resident records, in a 32 bed nursing home. You will need excellent communication skills and exhibit a professional persona as you will be dealing with multi-professional teams, for example Doctors, Nurses, Social Workers, Undertakers, as well as residents, relatives, staff and tradesmen.

You will need to be IT literate and be able to use Microsoft Word and Excel to an intermediate standard. Previous secretarial and administration experience is a must. The principal skill needed is that of multi-tasking. The administrator's role is one of the pivotal roles in keeping the Nursing Home running efficiently. You will often be in a position of keeping several (sometimes lots) of plates spinning at the same time whilst constantly being interrupted by staff, the phone, requests from your manager, urgent emails, etc. Being organised, able to prioritise and use your initiative is vital.

Due to the nature of the role, being privy to confidential information relating to residents and staff, you need to be able to retain complete discretion and be tactful and diplomatic when dealing with or supporting your manager to deal with sensitive issues. The successful candidate will have a cheerful disposition, be willing to take on a challenge, be flexible, have a mature, can-do and problem-solving attitude.

This position is subject to two references acceptable to the company and an acceptable, enhanced DBS Disclosure, the cost of which will be met by the successful applicant.
