Skylight Children's Homes are growing – and we'd love you to grow with us.
Following the success of Nova House in Stamford (rated 'Good' by Ofsted within twelve weeks of registration), we're opening our second therapeutic residential home, Aurora House, right next door. Both homes will offer high-quality, nurturing care to young people who may have experienced adversity, disrupted attachments, trauma or loss. Many of the young people we support simply need safe, stable adults who will show up for them and offer consistent, meaningful support.
As we expand, we're recruiting Therapeutic Care Practitioners to work across both Nova and Aurora House (Aurora's registration date is to be confirmed). Staff may work in either or both homes depending on the needs of the young people and the service.
About the Role
This is a rewarding, relationship-based role where every day is different. You'll support young people with routines, emotional wellbeing, education and activities – helping them feel safe, empowered and able to thrive.
That might mean cooking together, going trampolining, attending a family contact or offering a calm, reassuring presence in a tough moment. What matters most is that you show up consistently, with empathy and integrity.
Shift Pattern
- Typical shifts are 07:00–22:00, followed by a sleep-in (paid separately) and handover at 07:30
- Shorter shifts also possible for Bank/Flexible Staff
- Full-time roles are usually worked across 2.5 days per week, on average
- We avoid back-to-back shifts and build rotas to protect work-life balance
Driving Requirement
Due to the nature of the role, a full, valid UK driving licence is essential.
To meet transport needs safely and flexibly, all staff must be either:
- Over 25 years old (to drive the service vehicle), or
- Willing to use their own vehicle with business insurance in place
Meet Our Leadership Team
You'll be supported by a stable and experienced team across both homes:
- Jilly – Responsible Individual and one of the founders of Skylight Children's Homes, with postgraduate specialism in behavioural support and trauma-informed care.
- Anj – Registered Manager at Nova House, overseeing daily operations and ensuring a safe, child-centred home.
- Sandra – Deputy Manager at Nova House, supporting staff practice, supervision and development.
- Stuart – Deputy Manager at Aurora House, helping shape the new home with a focus on relationships and team culture.
Our Values
We are a values-led team, and our culture reflects this every day:
- Passionate & Ambitious – We take pride in doing our best, even when no one is watching.
- Celebrate Every Success – We recognise effort, progress and small wins that build self-belief.
- Playful & Fun – Laughter, silliness and shared moments are vital to healing.
- Accepting & Respectful – We treat each person with dignity, kindness and understanding.
- Curious & Reflective – We focus on the 'why' behind behaviour and respond thoughtfully.
- Empathetic & Kind – We lead with compassion and show up consistently for others.
These values shape everything we do – from recruitment and supervision to how we respond in moments of crisis.
What's on Offer?
- Full, sector-leading induction and ongoing training
- Health and wellbeing cash plans – dental, optical, GP helpline and more
- Free parking, staff meals, casual dress and reflective support
- Monthly recognition/gift vouchers through our Skylight Stars scheme
- Progression and development opportunities as we expand
Who We're Looking For
We're looking for people who are:
- Proactive – able to take initiative and respond calmly in the moment
- Nurturing – naturally supportive and able to build warm, trusting relationships
- Emotionally resilient – able to manage the emotional demands of the role with compassion and consistency
- Team players – collaborative, respectful and always willing to support colleagues
- Reflective – open to learning and growth, with the ability to think critically about your practice
- Reliable and responsible – able to follow through, show up and be counted on
- Calm under pressure – grounded and steady, even during challenging situations
