Yard Foreman

Illingworth Ingham (M/cr) Ltd have been in business since 1929. We are an independent family run Timber Importer & Timber Merchant and have continued to be a successful business within the timber industry for nearly 100 years. We now have a requirement for a Yard Foreman with machining capability at our Clitheroe Branch.

The Role

You will be responsible for the yard staff and to ensure that all deliveries, stock control, company and customer requirements are met on time and to a high standard.

• Responsible for managing yard operations, yard layout and stock management.
• Overseeing all necessary paperwork is completed accurately and returned to the administration team.
• Supervise yard operatives to ensure their workload is prioritised to ensure returns and deliveries are completed on time.
• Liaise closely, working and reporting to the branch manager ensuring effective communication about the status of workloads.
• Ensure that daily checks on yard machinery and forklifts are carried out and documented.
• Assess training needs where required for yard team including new employees and liaise with site manager to supply.
• Supervise depot forklift truck operations and ensure that all equipment is safely stored and stacked.
• To serve customers within the Yard / warehouse and maintain a high level of customer service at all times.
• Complete timber machining to a high level of quality and accuracy

Experience & Skills

• Timber/Builders merchants experience essential
• Excellent customer service skills
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate at all levels
• Self-motivated with a can-do attitude
• Strong team player who works as part of a team and independently
• A keen eye for detail.
• Forklift truck license preferable although training can be provided
• Experience working with the following machines: Spindle moulder, Resaw, 4-Sided Planer, Table Saw and Panel Saw. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years' experience and full working knowledge of woodworking machinery. Training can be provided to develop and complement existing skills.

Hours: Monday - Thursday 07:00 - 16:00 or 08:00 - 17:00, Friday 07:00 - 15:30 or 08:00 - 16:00. Saturdays on rota 08:00 - 12:30.
