Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced
Assurance Manager
to lead and strengthen their organisational decision-making framework. This role is responsible for managing assurance processes related to business case approval, portfolio oversight, performance monitoring and risk management. Operating within the Strategic Planning Team, you will play a key role in enhancing organisational effectiveness, supporting innovation, and enabling informed, strategic decision-making across the organisation.

This is a full-time maternity cover role with a start date of
23 February 2026
. The position offers hybrid working and can be based from various national office locations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage and continuously refine the organisation's assurance and decision-making frameworks.
  • Ensure structured and robust assessment methods for business case approvals via the Portfolio Management Board.
  • Provide assurance oversight across portfolio delivery, complementing performance metrics and supporting effective risk management.
  • Support strategic planning activities and contribute to organisational improvement initiatives.
  • Anticipate issues, identify opportunities for enhanced governance, and promote innovation within assurance processes.
  • Clearly communicate complex assurance concepts, ensuring they are accessible and actionable for stakeholders at all levels.
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with colleagues across multiple disciplines to support consistent delivery.
  • Influence and guide internal teams to strengthen assurance practices and drive continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to a positive and inclusive workplace culture, supporting initiatives that enable organisational performance and innovation.

Requirements

  • Experience in assurance management, governance or decision-making frameworks.
  • Ability to drive innovation and implement new initiatives within organisational processes.
  • Strong judgement with the ability to recognise risks, anticipate issues and support strategic priorities.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to communicate challenging concepts clearly and persuasively.
  • Collaborative working style with the ability to influence teams across varied disciplines.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.
