About Women's Inclusive Team (WIT):

Women's Inclusive Team (WIT) is a community-focused organisation dedicated to empowering BAME women, particularly those from Somali and other marginalised backgrounds. Through training, employment support, and advisory services, WIT fosters social inclusion and independence. The Barnsley Street project provides specialist support for women facing mental health challenges, ensuring they receive tailored care and opportunities for personal development.

Job Summary:

The Women's Wellbeing Lead will play a crucial role in overseeing and delivering women's wellbeing support initiatives at our centre. This role involves supporting vulnerable women in the community, ensuring they have access to DA and health services, employment and training opportunities, and overall wellbeing support. The role requires strong leadership, project coordination skills, and experience in working with women from diverse backgrounds.

Key Responsibilities:Wellbeing and Health support:

  • Provide tailored support to women experiencing mental/physical health difficulties, including one-on-one and group-based interventions.
  • Develop and deliver wellbeing programmes, including mindfulness, peer support groups, and self-care workshops.
  • Work closely with external mental health services, social workers, and GPs to ensure clients receive the necessary care.
  • Training stakeholders and frontline staff, to ensure they have the knowledge and skills to support diverse Communities
  • Provide training sessions in various formats,
  • Ensure accessibility for a wide range of learners,
  • Capacity Building and Sustainability
  • Train key staff to become champions.
  • Provide ongoing support, mentoring, and resources to embed the learning into
  • workplace culture.
  • Signpost and refer individuals to appropriate mental health and wellbeing services when needed.

Project Management & Development:

  • Lead and manage mental health-focused projects at Barnsley Street, ensuring they meet the needs of service users.
  • Oversee domestic abuse case management, providing guidance and support to staff delivering 1:1 interventions, safety planning, and multi-agency coordination.
  • Oversee the planning, delivery, and evaluation of community programmes that support women's mental health and personal development.
  • Collaborate with WIT's leadership team to develop strategies for long-term sustainability and impact.
  • Support the recruitment, training, and supervision of volunteers and peer mentors.
  • Monitor and report on project outcomes, ensuring compliance with funding requirements.

Community Engagement & Outreach:

  • Build relationships with women in the local community, encouraging participation in mental health and wellbeing programmes.
  • Organise events and activities that promote awareness of mental health challenges and reduce stigma.
  • Develop partnerships with local organisations, health services, and charities to strengthen WIT's network of support for mental health clients.

Employment, Training & Skills Development:

  • Support women in developing skills and confidence to access employment, training, and volunteering opportunities.
  • Work with local businesses and employers to create pathways for work placements and jobs for service users.
  • Assist women in CV writing, job applications, and interview preparation.

Administration & Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of service users, progress, and outcomes using CRM and other data management tools.
  • Ensure all activities comply with WIT's safeguarding policies and confidentiality agreements.
  • Prepare reports for funders, management, and stakeholders on the impact of the programmes.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Project Management & Leadership – ability to oversee multiple initiatives, coordinate teams, and drive impactful change.
  • Mental Health Support – understanding of mental health issues, particularly affecting BAME women, and the ability to provide empathetic and non-judgemental support.
  • Strong Communication – excellent verbal and written skills, with the ability to engage with diverse audiences (fluency in Somali is desirable).
  • Empathy & Cultural Awareness – deep understanding of the challenges faced by BAME women and a commitment to supporting their development.
  • Organisation & Time Management – ability to prioritise tasks effectively and work under pressure.
  • Networking & Partnership Building – ability to establish strong relationships with external organisations and funders.
  • Digital Skills – proficiency in Microsoft Office, social media, and CRM systems.

Job Types: Part-time, Fixed term contract

Contract length: 6 months

Pay: £30,000.00-£32,760.00 per year

Expected hours: No more than 21 per week
