About the Role

We are looking for a motivated and committed Deputy Manager to support the setup and development of a new residential children's home in Kempston, Bedfordshire.

This is an excellent opportunity to step into a leadership role within a supportive organisation. You will work closely with an experienced Responsible Individual and senior management team to establish the home, develop a skilled staff team, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, child-focused care.

A structured training and development pathway is included, with full support to progress towards becoming an Ofsted Registered Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the setup and Ofsted registration of the new home
  • Assist with the recruitment, training, and development of the staff team
  • Help to create a nurturing, trauma-informed environment that promotes positive outcomes
  • Ensure compliance with the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards
  • Contribute to the day-to-day management of the home and maintain high standards of care
  • Implement effective systems for safeguarding, record-keeping, budgeting, and staff supervision
  • Work alongside senior leaders to develop your leadership and management skills

Requirements

  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
  • Working towards, or willing to work towards, Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a residential children's home
  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed practice and the needs of young people with EBD
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and teamwork skills
  • Good knowledge of safeguarding procedures and Ofsted regulatory expectations
  • A genuine passion for supporting children and young people to achieve positive outcomes
