Pearce Construction is an employee owned company. The successful candidate will become a member of the orginsation after 12 months service and will qualify for tax free profit distributions when profit shares are paid.

Job Overview

We are seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in cost estimation, project budgeting, valuations and cost reporting to ensure the successful delivery of construction projects. This position offers an opportunity to work on diverse projects generally up to £5M , utilising MS 4PS and MS office tools and skills to optimize project costs and manage contractual relationships effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate cost plans
  • Conduct detailed quantity take-offs and pricing analysis for various construction projects.
  • Negotiate contracts, change orders, and scope of work with clients and subcontractors to achieve favorable terms.
  • Monitor project costs throughout the construction lifecycle to ensure adherence to budgets and identify potential cost overruns early.
  • Collaborate with project managers, planners, and contractors to develop comprehensive project budgets and schedules.
  • Manage contract administration, including reviewing and preparing contractual documents, ensuring compliance with legal standards.
  • Perform risk assessments related to costs and contracts, implementing strategies for effective cost control.
  • Support construction site teams by providing timely cost advice and managing variations or claims as they arise.
  • Utilise Bidworks software for document management, markup reviews

Experience

  • Proven experience in construction cost control and contract management within the construction industry an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of construction site operations, project management principles, and construction management practices.
  • Min 2 years experience in a surveying role
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate effectively with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Prior experience working on construction projects with a focus on cost accuracy and contractual compliance is highly desirable.
  • Excellent analytical skills combined with strong communication abilities to coordinate across multiple teams and stakeholders. This role is integral to the successful execution of our projects by ensuring financial efficiency while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance. We value candidates who are proactive problem-solvers with a comprehensive understanding of the construction process from estimation through project completion.
