£34,455 - £38,000 (depending on experience)

The Opportunity
The selected candidate will become part of the Caterpillar IT team (Energy & Transportation Segment) located in Peterborough. This position involves supporting the Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) by serving as the intermediary between IT and diverse global business units, facilitating the creation of requirements, development, testing and utilisation of information systems across Engineering & Manufacturing.

The primary emphasis will be on gaining an in-depth understanding of the Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) used across all regional facilities and the development of these systems to further enhance our business processes.

The successful applicant will join a global team supporting comprehensive business operations, offering opportunities for professional growth and exposure to various business functions. Additionally, the role provides the opportunity to gain experience with numerous application technologies and IT architectures.

Requirements Gathering
What You Will Do:

  • Conduct interviews, workshops, and surveys to understand and document business needs from stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to clarify and refine requirements.

Business Analysis & Documentation

  • Translate business requirements into clear, actionable work items.
  • Develop user stories and define acceptance criteria to guide development.
  • Prepare functional and technical specifications to support solution design.

Solution Design Support

  • Create and maintain high-level design diagrams and process flows.
  • Assist in evaluating solution options and recommending improvements.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with key business owners and subject matter experts.
  • Act as a liaison between business units and technical teams to ensure alignment.

Project Involvement

  • Represent business interests in project planning, scope definition, and delivery tracking.
  • Support testing and validation efforts to ensure solutions meet business needs.
