Purpose of the Role:

The Head of Recruitment and Social Value Lead will play a pivotal role in shaping Denholm Industrial Services' workforce and community strategy. This role combines strategic leadership in recruitment and workforce planning with the development and delivery of social value initiatives that align with the company's core business objectives and client expectations.

The postholder will ensure Denholm attracts, retains, and develops a high-performing workforce while delivering meaningful contributions to local communities through initiatives such as STEM outreach and Armed Forces engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Recruitment & Workforce Planning

  • Lead and oversee all aspects of recruitment and talent acquisition across Denholm Industrial Services.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with business units to understand current and future workforce needs and align recruitment strategies accordingly.
  • Develop and maintain talent pipelines to support workforce planning and succession.
  • Coordinating with operational managers to identify internal resource availability before recruiting or engaging with external agencies.
  • Implement and maintain robust pre-vetting processes, ensuring candidates meet eligibility criteria for security clearance where required.
  • Produce regular recruitment and workforce reports for senior management, highlighting trends, challenges, and recommendations.
  • Champion diversity, inclusion, and fair recruitment practices across all areas of the business.

Social Value & Community Engagement

  • Develop and lead Denholm's Social Value Strategy, ensuring alignment with client frameworks and business priorities.
  • Design and implement initiatives in key focus areas, including:
  • STEM & Schools Outreach – Build partnerships with educational institutions to inspire future generations towards careers in industrial and engineering sectors.
  • Armed Forces Engagement – Support veterans, reservists, and service leavers through tailored recruitment, training, and employment initiatives.
  • Collaborate with HR, Operations, and Marketing teams to embed social value principles into day-to-day business activity.
  • Monitor, measure, and report on social value outcomes, providing evidence of impact to clients and stakeholders.
  • Promote social value achievements internally and externally through communications, events, and stakeholder engagement.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven experience in a senior recruitment or workforce planning role, ideally within construction, engineering, marine or industrial services sectors.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver recruitment strategies aligned with business growth and operational needs.
  • Strong understanding of labour coordination and multi-site workforce management.
  • Experience of developing and implementing social value or CSR programmes.
  • Knowledge of security clearance and pre-employment vetting processes.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Analytical and strategic mindset with the ability to translate data into actionable insight.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Location:

This role can be based near one of Denholm's key sites - Yeovil, Portsmouth, Rosyth, or Plymouth - with flexibility to work from home. However, regular travel to DIS sites including Liverpool and across the UK will be essential to meet with operational teams, support recruitment activity, and deliver social value initiatives.
