Overview

We are seeking a friendly and efficient Counter Assistant to join our team. This role involves providing excellent customer service, assisting with food preparation, and ensuring a smooth operation at the counter. The ideal candidate will have experience in a restaurant or food service environment, with a passion for delivering quality service and maintaining high standards of food safety. This position offers an opportunity to develop culinary skills and gain valuable experience in a busy food establishment.

Duties

  • Serve customers promptly and courteously at the counter, taking orders and processing payments accurately
  • Assist with food preparation, ensuring all items meet quality and safety standards
  • Upsell menu items to maximise sales opportunities while maintaining customer satisfaction
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the counter area, including sanitising surfaces and utensils
  • Handle cash transactions efficiently using the point-of-sale system
  • Ensure adherence to food safety regulations and hygiene standards at all times
  • Restock supplies as needed to ensure smooth service during shifts
  • Provide information about menu items and special offers to customers
  • Support kitchen staff with basic food preparation tasks when required

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a restaurant or food service environment is preferred, especially in serving or counter roles
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
  • Basic maths skills for handling cash and processing transactions accurately
  • Experience in food preparation or culinary roles is advantageous
  • Strong time management skills to handle busy periods efficiently
  • Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining a friendly demeanour
  • Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused attitude
  • Organised with attention to detail to ensure cleanliness and safety standards are met consistently

This role is ideal for individuals passionate about food service who enjoy working in a fast-paced environment while delivering exceptional customer experiences.

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent, Temporary

Pay: £13.50 per hour
