Engineering Shift Leader Food Manufacturing

Norwich, United Kingdom | On-site | Full-time | Rotating Shifts

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Shift Leader to oversee the engineering team in a busy food manufacturing environment. In this hands-on leadership role, you'll coordinate maintenance priorities, troubleshoot production machinery, and ensure your team delivers efficient, safe, and reliable operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and lead the engineering team during your shift, ensuring all maintenance and repairs are completed efficiently.

  • Coordinate with production to schedule maintenance and respond quickly to equipment breakdowns to minimize downtime.

  • Maintain health and safety compliance and promote a safety-first culture.

  • Diagnose machinery faults and support team members in problem-solving and root-cause analysis.

  • Keep accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and inventory usage.

  • Provide training and mentorship to team members to enhance skills and adherence to best practices.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering department.

What Were Looking For

  • Proven experience in an engineering role with supervisory or leadership responsibilities, ideally in food manufacturing or processing.

  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems with hands-on troubleshooting skills.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and team management abilities.

  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced production environment.

  • Commitment to health and safety regulations and promoting a safe working environment.

  • Flexibility to work shifts, including nights and weekends.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to maintenance challenges.
