This paid position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those in need, specialising in elderly care, dementia support, hospice care, and child care as required.

Duties

  • Assist with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
  • Provide specialised care for patients with Alzheimer's disease, dementia, or other cognitive impairments
  • Administer medication following prescribed schedules and protocols
  • Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary requirements
  • Support with light housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean and safe environment
  • Offer emotional support and companionship to clients of all ages
  • Assist with transportation needs, including driving clients to appointments or activities
  • Manage behaviour challenges with patience and effective behaviour management techniques
  • Respond promptly to medical emergencies using first aid skills when necessary
  • Support hospice patients with compassionate end-of-life care

Requirements

  • Previous experience in assisted living, nursing home environments, or home care is highly desirable
  • Car driver with own care essential
  • Knowledge of patient care procedures and caregiving best practices
  • Experience with Alzheimer's, dementia, or hospice care is advantageous
  • Valid driving licence for transportation duties
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when required
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in medication administration and record keeping
  • Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with clients and team members
  • Compassionate attitude with a genuine desire to assist others in need
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
