Primary Higher Level Teaching Assistant
The Head Start Education Group is a highly-successful, high-achieving, alternative provision, delivering transformative education to young people of all ages from Primary through to Year 11.
This is a particularly exciting time to be joining our team - as we increase the number of our provisions in Northumberland to six sites and expand our already very high-functioning team of teachers and support staff.
We wish to appoint an enthusiastic Primary HLTA to join our friendly team of Primary education support and teaching staff. The successful candidate will need to be highly motivated, hard working with a sense of fun and have high expectations of children within a Key Stage 1 & 2 setting. Our teaching support team is pivotal to our success in the classroom and provides a great deal of support for our teachers, and this position for an HLTA will strengthen the team even further with their knowledge, experience and additional support that they can provide our teaching staff with.
You will work under the direction of a qualified teacher to plan, prepare and deliver a variety of lessons to small groups and individual pupils. You will provide care and support programmes to enable access to learning for pupils which includes assessments and reports on pupils' progress. You should be confident and have experience of delivering learning to students in a small group and 1:1 setting. There are clear progression routes and training opportunities for the right applicant.
You will be working with some of the most disengaged young people in the region with a range of SEMH and behavioural needs. The job is highly rewarding for those that think every child deserves a second, third or even fourth chance to achieve and succeed.
Previous experience of working in a SEMH environment would be desirable but not essential. A good sense of humour, excellent support skills and strong levels of resilience are also just as important.
We would love you to join us if you can demonstrate that you are:
● Confident, enthusiastic and have a passion for learning
● Able to demonstrate excellent English skills (clear written and spoken English) along with good reading, writing and numeracy skills
● An excellent, enthusiastic and committed practitioner who believes in the value of continuing CPD
● Someone who has high expectations of behaviour and achievement for all pupils
● Creative and able to make a difference
● Adaptable and aspirational
● Committed to securing good outcomes for all pupils and have a belief that all can achieve well
● Able to build good working relationships with staff, pupils and their parents/carers
If that sounds like you then we would love for you to apply.
