We are looking to recruit a new cleaner supervisor to join our after hours team at Coopersale Hall School in Epping, Essex CM16 7PE as soon as possible.

The hours are from 4.30pm until 8pm Mondays to Fridays during term times (34 weeks), with six weeks' work in the holiday periods at 3.5 hours per day. Overall, this is a position for 40 weeks of the year, with the hourly rate at £15.36 including an element of holiday pay.

All induction and training is provided. The school also provides company polo shirts, fleeces, tabards and other relevant PPE. All cleaning equipment and materials are available on site.

Coopersale Hall is close to main bus stops and a mile from Epping Underground station, but the position might benefit somebody who drives.

This position is to be a cleaner in a team of four, while supervising the team that has responsibility for cleaning the insides of the buildings on the school site at the end of school each day. The successful candidate will take pride in their work and will demonstrate excellent punctuality and attendance.

The role is to start ASAP, depending on the employment checks that are required for working in schools being completed.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Supervisory:

  • To fully understand the required cleaning standards and procedures for workers and ensure adherence to these standards and procedures.
  • To train and develop employees.
  • To schedule and assign specific duties to cleaners and also ensure that they are carried out to a high standard.
  • To inspect cleaning equipment on a regular basis and order repair/replacement as required.
  • To control and monitor the usage of cleaning materials so as to avoid or minimise waste and/or misuse.
  • To provide assistance to cleaners as required while they carry out their duties.

Cleaning:

  • To clean certain parts of the school site.
  • To vacuum carpet areas and wash floors.
  • To sweep uncarpeted areas.
  • To empty and clean bins.
  • To spot clean where spillages have occurred spillages.
  • To clean classroom desks, seats and skirting boards.
  • To clean toilets and toilet areas.
  • To clean doors and some internal windows.
  • To clean staircases, corridors and halls
  • To check stock levels of cleaning materials
  • To report all defects/hazards immediately to the site manager

Person Specification:

Essential:

  • Possess excellent communication skills
  • Have good interpersonal skills. That is to say, the supervisor must be someone that gets along easily with people
  • Be outstanding when it comes to organising and coordinating the cleaning team
  • Must display a high level of integrity due to the fact that he/she may be in a position to take care of people's personal belongings
  • Excellent decision-making ability
  • Must be proactive
  • Must have the ability and willingness to work as part of and lead a team
  • Should have a clear understanding of the required cleaning standards
  • Must have relevant experience in cleaning and supervision of cleaning procedures

Desirable:

  • Experience of working in a school environment
  • Experience of training and developing other staff members.
  • Experience of using the required cleaning materials and COSHH safety requirements.

The School Cleaner Supervisor should also be prepared to undertake other such specific duties that may be assigned by the Group Management Team.
