Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our procurement team as a Strategic Buyer. This role involves strategic supplier management, negotiation, cost analysis, and continuous improvement of procurement processes. The Strategic Buyer will also maintain and update part numbers within the system and support product costing activities.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement & Supplier Management

  • Source, evaluate, and select suppliers that meet quality, cost, and delivery requirements.
  • Identify and qualify new suppliers to strengthen the supply base and support company growth.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure ongoing performance and reliability.
  • Lead and participate in supplier reviews, performance evaluations, and corrective action activities.

Costing & Negotiation

  • Support the development of costings for new and existing products, collaborating with technical and operations.
  • Conduct cost analysis and benchmarking to identify opportunities for cost reduction.
  • Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and contract conditions.
  • ·Monitor market trends, material costs, and economic factors affecting pricing.

Part Number & Data Management

  • Create, maintain, and update part numbers within the ERP/MRP system.
  • Ensure product and material data is accurate, complete, and aligned with technical specifications.
  • Manage documentation and ensure compliance with internal processes and quality standards.

Process Improvement

  • Review existing procurement processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Implement strategies to increase efficiency and reduce waste
  • Support cross-functional teams in continuous improvement initiatives and standardisation of processes.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a procurement, strategic sourcing, or buying role.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and cost structures.
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and data management.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess cost, risk, and supplier performance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional certification in procurement or supply chain management (MCIPS, CSCP, CPM).
  • Experience in manufacturing, engineering, or a technical industry.
  • Experience in process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
