Calderdale Adult Learning is on a journey to become an outstanding provider. Learners are always at the centre of everything we do, so this is an excellent opportunity to be a part of our growing provision. We are looking for individuals who share the 'outstanding' ethos, are passionate about teaching, positively influencing learners' lives.
We offer a wide range of courses to approximately 4,000 Adult learners throughout Calderdale, accredited and community-based learning. Our provision adapts to the needs of our communities. It offers a range of opportunities to learn, grow in confidence, gain the qualifications that support entering employment, career changes, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, improving emotional health and well-being, and gaining skills to help in daily life.
We are seeking to appoint an experienced, enthusiastic, and adaptable tutor to deliver literacy and employability courses for both mainstream learners and those with learning disabilities. Teaching experience is essential, ideally within adult education. The successful candidate will assess learners' starting points, plan and deliver tailored learning to meet individual needs, monitor progress, and provide high-quality information, advice, and guidance to support learners in identifying suitable next steps and pathways. You will be a strong team player who is flexible, proactive, and ready to embrace new teaching challenges as opportunities arise.
A minimum of a Level 3 teaching qualification and a minimum of level 3 subject specialism are essential. You should be able to demonstrate a proven track record of teaching. We expect all staff to embed wider skills in their teaching including, British Values, Safeguarding and Prevent, Equality and Diversity to ensure that learners maximise their understanding.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment. Applicants to posts that are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act will require a DBS from the Disclosure and Barring Service before the appointment is confirmed.
Please note:
We have some flexibility to discuss and agreed day/times for this contract with the successful candidate. When completing your application, it is essential to evidence how you meet the personal specification in your person statement.
